About Us - History

HRI was founded in 1997 as a consulting company focused on developing data mining and analytic services for the Health Care Financing Administration (renamed CMS), the Congressional Budget Office, the Government Accounting Office (renamed Government Accountability Office), and the Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General.HRI's expertise in this area led to tremendous success in the recovery of funds and the successful prosecution of health care fraud and abuse by Medicare and Medicaid.
In 2003 HRI turned its efforts to an overlooked aspect of health care expense - claims billed inappropriately paid on behalf of self-insured employers and health care trusts. Under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) self-insured employers and health care trusts have a responsibility to protect benefit plan assets. Although contracted with health plans or third party administrators to process and pay claims, evidence shows that inappropriate billing patterns often go undetected.
